Internship Description

The Community Impact Intern will contribute to key initiatives enhancing United Way's community engagement and outreach efforts:

  1. Event Coordination: Assist with planning and executing community events and presentations.
  2. Volunteer Management: Support volunteer recruitment, training, and recognition programs.
  3. CRM Data Tracking: Help maintain accurate records in donor and volunteer databases.
  4. Donor Outreach: Assist with mailings and stewardship activities for donors.
  5. Engagement Strategy: Help develop strategies to convert volunteers into donors and prospect new corporate partnerships.
  6. Logistical Support: Provide support for community events and meetings.

Through this experience, the intern will gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, communications, and strategic outreach.

Brandi Ficklin serves as the key liaison for the tri-county rural area at United Way, overseeing messaging, content development, and community engagement across Montgomery, Houston, and Stewart counties. With over a decade of experience supervising interns and temporary workers, she has developed strong leadership and mentorship skills. During her tenure at the Montgomery County Election Commission, she oversaw more than 100 temporary employees, many of whom advanced to roles within county offices or launched their own businesses. At United Way, she continues her commitment to professional development by providing meaningful learning experiences that prepare interns for future career success.
