The All State Editor-in-Chief Application

Thank you for your interest in the Editor-in-Chief position for The All State. In addition to this application, you must also submit to the adviser or their designee a copy of your current resume, three letters of recommendation related to this position, and a vision plan for The All State. When the Editor-in-Chief is chosen, these materials will be shared with the newspaper staff.

Applicants for EIC must have prior related newspaper and leadership experience and agree to the EIC position requirements.

The deadline for applying and having all requested materials submitted to the adviser is April 15, 2022 by 10 p.m. Please direct questions to bryantt@apsu.edu.

Please note: The All State Staff Manual is being reviewed. During the interview, changes will be discussed that may or may not impact eligibility for this position.

Classification*
Each candidate for EIC must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 at the time of selection and must maintain this minimum average throughout their service. Additionally, the student must be currently enrolled and may not be on disciplinary probation/suspension at the time of application or at any time during the period of service. The candidate shall have no formal discipline file with the University at any time.
Please describe your previous related experience/work history. If you have ever worked for a student or professional publication before, please list that experience here, including what you have covered and what skills (editing, photography, etc.) you have. Include all leadership experiences you have had in college or professionally.
Please list any additional information that might be relevant to or support your application for the top leadership position with The All State.
Please list any other activities or organizations you are involved in on campus. (NOTE: The editor-in-chief of The All State cannot hold any position with the Student Government Association, work for Public Relations & Marketing, work for other media outlets and cannot hold a leadership position with a campus organization/department that could pose a conflict of interest.)

Additional Information - Editor-in-Chief

Candidates for the EIC position who submit all required materials by the indicated deadline and meet qualifications must complete an interview with a panel of experienced faculty and staff. Interviews may be in person or virtually. University email will be the method of communication during this process.

The editor-in-chief is expected to possess and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. No student staff, including the EIC, shall have a formal discipline record on file while holding a position.

2. The All State staff selections, appointments and related scholarships as well as operations are subject to the availability of funding from allocations and revenues.
